Welcome to Markus Voetter Photography and thanks for stopping by.

Coming originally from Germany but living in Galway for more than a decade now, Ireland has become something like a second home to me. I love the West Coast with it's rough climate, landscape and friendly people.

I turned passion into profession and I am now working as a freelance photographer shooting mainly Weddings, Portraits and Commercials Photographs.

I was wondering what else I could possibly tell you about me. So here it goes. How it all began ...

I must have been about six years old when my parents gave me my first camera for Christmas. It was a plastic rangefinder camera, where you were only able to select "Cloud" or "Sun" for exposure control called "beirette SL100". It had a red squeaky release button and I loved it.

I can still remember it like it was yesterday. Christmas Day. My dad helped me to carefully load my first 35mm film. We went for a walk and I was just about to take my first photo when I
suddenly dropped the camera. It fell to the
ground and the film compartment sprung
wide open exposing the film to day light.

Photography and development of the images
in our own darkroom was something of a family tradition. My dad did a fine job introducing me to
the world of photography and I've been hooked
ever since.

Since 2001 I've been shooting digitally and what was once our Darkroom is now Lightroom.

I haven't dropped a camera since that day in 1984. Lesson learned. Touch wood and hope it stays that way! :)
